# [DESCRIPTION](#DESCRIPTION)

The functions **llapi\_lmv\_get\_uuids()** and **llapi\_lov\_get\_uuids()**, gets the uuids for respective device type.

*fd* is the file decriptor for mount point, *uuidp* is preallocated array of obd\_uuid to hold uuids

*ost\_count* returns the count of uuids in the *uuidp* array.

Return the device uuids on success or a negative errno value on failure.

**llapi\_lmv\_get\_uuids()**, **llapi\_lov\_get\_uuids()** are part of the [**lustre**(7)](/man/enterprise-packages/lustre/lustre.7) user application interface library since before release 2.17.0
