LFS-POOL-PIN\_INFO(1) Lustre User Utilities LFS-POOL-PIN\_INFO(1)

# [NAME](#NAME)

lfs-pool-pin\_info - report OST pool pinning status

# [SYNOPSIS](#SYNOPSIS)

`lfs pool pin_info` **--pool** *POOL* \[**--quiet**] \[**--file**] *FILE* | *DIRECTORY* ...

`lfs pool pin_info` **--pool** *POOL* \[**--quiet**] **--fid** *MOUNT* *FID* ...

# [DESCRIPTION](#DESCRIPTION)

The **lfs pool pin\_info** subcommand queries the **lustre.pin** extended attribute of Lustre files and directories in order to report whether they are pinned to a particular OST pool. Pool pins are stored as YAML entries of the form **pool:** *POOL* inside the **lustre.pin** attribute, alongside any other keys that may be present.

For each target specified on the command line, **lfs pool pin\_info** checks whether its **lustre.pin** attribute currently contains a **pool** entry for the requested *POOL*. The output consists of one line per argument in the form *TARGET:POOL: pinned* or *TARGET:POOL: UNPINNED .*

The **--fid** form of the command operates on files referenced by Lustre FIDs beneath the filesystem mounted at *MOUNT*, while the default and **--file** forms operate on filesystem paths.

# [OPTIONS](#OPTIONS)

[**--pool** **POOL**](#pool)

Name of the OST pool whose pin status should be queried. The name must consist of only alphanumeric characters, underscores and hyphens, and may optionally be qualified with an *fsname* prefix (e.g. *fsname*.*POOL*), which is discarded before the pool name is used.

[**-f**, **--file**](#f)

Interpret remaining arguments as filesystem paths (this is the default if neither **--file** nor **--fid** is given).

[**-F**, **--fid** **MOUNT**](#F)

Interpret remaining arguments as Lustre FIDs within the filesystem mounted at *MOUNT*. This option is mutually exclusive with **--file**.

[**-q**, **--quiet**](#q)

Suppress both the per-target error messages (such as a target that cannot be opened or an unrecognized FID) and the per-target *TARGET:POOL: pinned* / *TARGET:POOL: UNPINNED* status lines; the exit status still reflects the pinning state and any errors encountered.

[**-h**, **--help**](#h)

Display brief usage information for the **lfs pool pin\_info** subcommand.

# [EXIT STATUS](#EXIT_STATUS)

The **lfs pool pin\_info** command returns a status that reflects both the success of the query and the pinning state of the targets:

**0**

All specified targets were successfully queried and are pinned to the requested *POOL*.

**1**

All specified targets were successfully queried but at least one target is not pinned to the requested *POOL*.

**> 1**

An argument or lookup error occurred, such as an invalid pool name, an unreachable filesystem, or a missing file or FID. In these cases the exit status is a positive errno value corresponding to the first error encountered.

# [EXAMPLES](#EXAMPLES)

Check whether a file is pinned to pool scratch:

```
$ lfs pool pin_info --pool scratch /mnt/testfs/file
```

Check whether a file referenced by FID is pinned to pool scratch:

```
$ lfs pool pin_info --pool scratch --fid /mnt/testfs 0x200000401:0x1:0x0
```
