# [NAME](#NAME)

gnutls\_certificate\_server\_set\_request - API function

# [SYNOPSIS](#SYNOPSIS)

**#include <gnutls/gnutls.h>**

**void gnutls\_certificate\_server\_set\_request(gnutls\_session\_t session, gnutls\_certificate\_request\_t req);**

# [ARGUMENTS](#ARGUMENTS)

[gnutls\_session\_t session](#gnutls_session_t)

is a **gnutls\_session\_t** type.

[gnutls\_certificate\_request\_t req](#gnutls_certificate_request_t)

is one of GNUTLS\_CERT\_REQUEST, GNUTLS\_CERT\_REQUIRE, GNUTLS\_CERT\_IGNORE

# [DESCRIPTION](#DESCRIPTION)

This function specifies if we (in case of a server) are going to send a certificate request message to the client. If *req* is GNUTLS\_CERT\_REQUIRE then the server will return the **GNUTLS\_E\_NO\_CERTIFICATE\_FOUND** error if the peer does not provide a certificate. If you do not call this function then the client will not be asked to send a certificate. Invoking the function with *req* GNUTLS\_CERT\_IGNORE has the same effect.
