# [NAME](#NAME)

gnutls\_decode\_rs\_value - API function

# [SYNOPSIS](#SYNOPSIS)

**#include <gnutls/crypto.h>**

**int gnutls\_decode\_rs\_value(const gnutls\_datum\_t * sig\_value, gnutls\_datum\_t * r, gnutls\_datum\_t * s);**

# [ARGUMENTS](#ARGUMENTS)

[const gnutls\_datum\_t * sig\_value](#const)

holds a Dss-Sig-Value DER or BER encoded structure

[gnutls\_datum\_t * r](#gnutls_datum_t)

will contain the r value

[gnutls\_datum\_t * s](#gnutls_datum_t~2)

will contain the s value

# [DESCRIPTION](#DESCRIPTION)

This function will decode the provided *sig\_value* , into *r* and *s* elements. The Dss-Sig-Value is used for DSA and ECDSA signatures.

The output values may be padded with a zero byte to prevent them from being interpreted as negative values. The value should be deallocated using **gnutls\_free()**.

# [RETURNS](#RETURNS)

On success, **GNUTLS\_E\_SUCCESS** (0) is returned, otherwise an error code is returned.

# [SINCE](#SINCE)

3.6.0
