**ssize\_t gnutls\_record\_send2(gnutls\_session\_t session, const void * data, size\_t data\_size, size\_t pad, unsigned flags);**

# [ARGUMENTS](#ARGUMENTS)

[gnutls\_session\_t session](#gnutls_session_t)

is a **gnutls\_session\_t** type.

[const void * data](#const)

contains the data to send

[size\_t data\_size](#size_t)

is the length of the data

[size\_t pad](#size_t~2)

padding to be added to the record

[unsigned flags](#unsigned)

must be zero

# [DESCRIPTION](#DESCRIPTION)

This function is identical to **gnutls\_record\_send()** except that it takes an extra argument to specify padding to be added the record. To determine the maximum size of padding, use **gnutls\_record\_get\_max\_size()** and **gnutls\_record\_overhead\_size()**.

Note that in order for GnuTLS to provide constant time processing of padding and data in TLS1.3, the flag **GNUTLS\_SAFE\_PADDING\_CHECK** must be used in **gnutls\_init()**.

The number of bytes sent, or a negative error code. The number of bytes sent might be less than *data\_size* . The maximum number of bytes this function can send in a single call depends on the negotiated maximum record size.
