# [NAME](#NAME)

gnutls\_transport\_set\_pull\_function - API function

# [SYNOPSIS](#SYNOPSIS)

**#include <gnutls/gnutls.h>**

**void gnutls\_transport\_set\_pull\_function(gnutls\_session\_t session, gnutls\_pull\_func pull\_func);**

# [ARGUMENTS](#ARGUMENTS)

[gnutls\_session\_t session](#gnutls_session_t)

is a **gnutls\_session\_t** type.

[gnutls\_pull\_func pull\_func](#gnutls_pull_func)

a callback function similar to **read()**

# [DESCRIPTION](#DESCRIPTION)

This is the function where you set a function for gnutls to receive data. Normally, if you use berkeley style sockets, do not need to use this function since the default [recv(2)](/man/os/gnutls/recv.2) will probably be ok. The callback should return 0 on connection termination, a positive number indicating the number of bytes received, and -1 on error.

*gnutls\_pull\_func* is of the form, ssize\_t (\*gnutls\_pull\_func)(gnutls\_transport\_ptr\_t, void\*, size\_t);
