**int gnutls\_x509\_crt\_set\_basic\_constraints(gnutls\_x509\_crt\_t crt, unsigned int ca, int pathLenConstraint);**

# [ARGUMENTS](#ARGUMENTS)

[gnutls\_x509\_crt\_t crt](#gnutls_x509_crt_t)

a certificate of type **gnutls\_x509\_crt\_t**

[unsigned int ca](#unsigned)

[true(1)](/man/os/gnutls/true.1) or false(0). Depending on the Certificate authority status.

[int pathLenConstraint](#int)

non-negative error codes indicate maximum length of path, and negative error codes indicate that the pathLenConstraints field should not be present.

# [DESCRIPTION](#DESCRIPTION)

This function will set the basicConstraints certificate extension.

# [RETURNS](#RETURNS)

On success, **GNUTLS\_E\_SUCCESS** (0) is returned, otherwise a negative error value.
