.SH "DESCRIPTION"
.PP
The \fBeconf_comment_tag\fR() function retrieves the comment character currently defined for the configuration file object pointed to by \fIkey_file\fR\&.
.PP
In a typical INI\-like configuration file, the comment character (e\&.g\&.,
\(lq#\(rq or \(lq;\(rq) denotes the start of a comment, where the rest of the line should be ignored during parsing\&.
.PP
The
\fIkey_file\fR parameter must be a pointer to a valid \fBeconf_file\fR
structure, usually obtained from functions like \fBeconf_readConfig\fR(3) or
\fBeconf_newKeyFile\fR(3)\&.
.SH "RETURN VALUE"
.PP
On success, \fBeconf_comment_tag\fR() returns the comment character used for the configuration file object\&.
.SH "ERRORS"
.PP
This function does not return an explicit error code\&. Callers must ensure that
\fIkey_file\fR is valid before calling this function\&.
