econf\_freeFile - free memory allocated for a configuration file object

# [SYNOPSIS](#SYNOPSIS)

```
#include <libeconf.h>
```

**void econf\_freeFile(econf\_file \*key\_file);**

# [DESCRIPTION](#DESCRIPTION)

The **econf\_freeFile**() function releases the memory allocated for the configuration file object specified by *key\_file*.

The *key\_file* parameter is a pointer to the **econf\_file** structure that was previously allocated by functions such as [**econf\_readFile**(3)](/man/os/libeconf/econf_readFile.3), [**econf\_readConfig**(3)](/man/os/libeconf/econf_readConfig.3), or [**econf\_newIniFile**(3)](/man/os/libeconf/econf_newIniFile.3).

After this function is called, the pointer *key\_file* is invalid and should not be accessed.
