# [NAME](#NAME)

libnvme\_set\_owner - Set the orchestrator identity for the registry

# [SYNOPSIS](#SYNOPSIS)

**int libnvme\_set\_owner** **(struct libnvme\_global\_ctx \*ctx ,** **const char \*owner );**

# [ARGUMENTS](#ARGUMENTS)

[ctx](#ctx)

*struct libnvme\_global\_ctx* object

[owner](#owner)

Orchestrator identity string (e.g. "stas", "nbft").

# [DESCRIPTION](#DESCRIPTION)

Records the orchestrator identity used when claiming registry ownership of connections made through *ctx*. A later call overwrites the previous value; treating the identity as immutable is a policy decision left to the caller. A process that does not participate in the registry simply never calls this.

This is the supported way to record the registry owner; **libnvme\_create\_global\_ctx** deliberately takes no owner parameter.

See also: **libnvmf\_get\_owner\_from\_tid** and **libnvmf\_get\_owner\_from\_fctx** (fabrics.h) to look up who owns a candidate connection before connecting it, and **libnvmf\_registry\_retrieve** (registry.h) to read a live controller's registry entry directly.

# [RETURN](#RETURN)

0 on success, -EINVAL or -ENOMEM on error.
